We read the story ‘Eva and the Perfect Rain’ by Tatyana Feeney. In the story Eva gets a new umbrella and can’t wait to try it out, but it is either too windy, the rain is too soft or the thunder and lightning stop her going out. Finally, the perfect rain for trying out her new umbrella arrives and she is delighted.
We read the story and learned about different materials that are water-proof or not water-proof. The children then made their own ‘umbrellas’ and we tested them out with a little toy ‘Eva’. We had lots of fun with this activity and learned some important skills on how to work in a group.
