First and second class have had a busy start to the new year. The children have been learning to code with lego spike and an application called Scratch. Everyone is really enjoying learning new skills in a fun ,interesting way with the expertise of our volunteer parent, Bijal McSweeney.

The class also had a very interesting visit from another parent, Carrie Jamieson. We learned all about the WInter Olympics and got to hold an Olympic torch from the Winter Olympics that were held in Vancouver in 2010

The Belltable invited us to a show called ‘Scéal an Lae’. This was a free event that showcased the Irish Language and had a mini orchestra playing. We really enjoyed a trip out of the classroom on a lovely sunny, spring day.

Finally, congratulations to the first and second class students who have been remembering to bring in their towels everyday to school to support our green team’s goal of achieving a second green school flag. We have had the highest number of towels in our class for two months in a row now. The class earned 20 minutes extra playtime as a result of their hard work. Well done everyone.
